Creation of the world’s first pleasure boat dismantling network

The French Association for Eco-Friendly Pleasure Boating (APER), an environmental organisation approved in March 2019 for the recycling of end-of-life pleasure and sports boats, announced in June the opening of its pleasure boat dismantling network, with facilities that are now up and running. The dismantling process, which includes ten stages, will be operational as of the second quarter 2019*.

The APER is an association under the 1901 French law, and was created in 2009 at the initiative of the Fédération des Industries Nautiques (FIN). It now brings together 65 pleasure boat manufacturers and importers, representing 85% of the French market.

The APER now has 18 operational boat dismantling facilities in various locations along the French coast, and hopes to have more than 30 such facilities by the end of the year.
